White Ribbon: A global movement with autonomous entities

White Ribbon UK operates independently of other organisations using the same name. The White Ribbon movement, or the White Ribbon campaign as it is sometimes referred to, started nearly 35 years ago in Canada. Since then, the mission to engage men in ending violence against women and girls has been picked up by individuals in countries around the world, leading to the establishment of different charities bearing the same name.

As was the case when they were founded, these charities, including White Ribbon UK, have evolved independently and take different approaches to how they work in their territories. White Ribbon UK is a registered charity in England and Wales and operates solely within these two nations and is not affiliated with any other organisation bearing the same name either within the UK or abroad.
