Make sure your organisation is a place where sexist jokes aren’t brushed off, inappropriate behaviour isn’t ignored, and people feel comfortable speaking up.

Work with White Ribbon UK as a Supporter Organisation to create a culture where people treat each other with respect, understand what’s not acceptable, and violence against women and girls is never ignored.

Becoming a Supporter Organisation gives you a practical framework to help you put this into practice.

You’ll have access to tools and resources to help start conversations, challenge harmful attitudes and make your organisation a safer and more respectful place for everyone.

Could you be a Supporter Organisation?

If you’re a smaller organisation and want to do your bit to create a better culture, yes, this could be for you!

You can join if your organisation has:

  • Fewer than 75 staff

  • An annual turnover or budget revenue of less than £1 million

And you don’t need to be a particular type of organisation. We work with charities, community groups, schools, sports clubs, venues, small businesses and local organisations, basically, if you’re an organisation that wants to stand for respect and equality, we want you on board!

So, what do you actually have to do?

Over three years, you’ll work towards 7 core commitments each year. They’re designed to be practical, achievable and easy to build into what you already do.

It’s not about being perfect.

It’s about being willing to have the conversation.

Being a Supporter Organisation isn’t just about putting a logo on your website or doing something once a year. It’s about the little things that help shape your culture, such as what gets called out, what gets challenged and what people know won’t be tolerated.

You might start with a conversation over coffee, share some resources with your team, or join in an event for White Ribbon Day.

Every organisation will do it differently.The important thing is that you’re making a commitment to creating a place where people feel safe, respected and equal.

See some examples of the different sectors we work with below.

A primary school held a White Ribbon Day session with all year groups. Teachers used the White Ribbon School Activity Pack to introduce concepts of gender and equality and had activities where they made White Ribbon cupcakes, selling them at lunch time to raise money for White Ribbon UK.

On a busy high street, a pub regularly stocks up on White Ribbon drinks mats, 'Find Help' and 'Make the Promise' cards from the White Ribbon Shop, putting them on tables and at the bar. Their staff wear branded lanyards and hold a Quiz Night once a month, donating proceeds to White Ribbon UK. One of their door supervisors is a White Ribbon Ambassador and can confidently speak with customers about our mission.

A local news outlet has their White Ribbon Supporter Organisation badge on their website and prints it on the front of their papers. All journalists stick to a code in their reports whereby violence against women is reported appropriately, without victim blaming, or conflating stories.

White Ribbon Ambassadors at a football club make sure board members and managers wear white ribbons at matches, encouraging players and fans to make the White Ribbon Promise. They display posters throughout the club, including in the changing rooms and a banner around the pitch.

What does it cost?

Your Supporter Organisation fee covers three years:

  • Up to £500,000 annual turnover / budget revenue: £120 + VAT

  • Over £500,000 and under £1 million annual turnover / budget revenue: £150 + VAT

Ready to get involved?

It’s pretty simple.

1. Fill in the application form and send it to organisations@whiteribbon.org.uk and apply to Become a Supporter Organisation.

2. We’ll take a look
Your application will be reviewed by the White Ribbon team.

3. Get approved
Once approved, we’ll send you an invoice for your three-year fee.

4. Get stuck in
Once payment is received, you’ll get your certificate, resource pack and access to the Supporter Organisation Resource Hub.

Then it’s over to you! Start the conversations, get people involved and help make respect part of everyday life in your organisation.
