We Speak Up: Carl Petch

 Meet Carl Petch, a White Ribbon UK Ambassador and Station Manager for the fire service, committed to speaking up and taking action to help end violence against women and girls. We spoke to Carl about his motivations for becoming an Ambassador and the importance of standing up for what is right.  

What motivates you to be a White Ribbon Ambassador?  

As a father of 2 mixed-race girls, I'm keenly aware of the barriers already in front of them. Most of those barriers will have been reinforced by the mindsets of men, and I want to be a person who can not only help women get over the barriers, but help us as men remove the barriers. 

What message would you give to other men, to encourage them to be allies to women and girls?    

How would you want your female family members to be treated? How would you feel if your family member were negatively treated because she is a woman? Think about your answers to those questions when you are making key decisions.
