The Hennie 40 Mile Challenge

TW: This article contains potentially distressing material.

Throughout February, in memory of Sarah Henshaw, 18 White Ribbon fundraisers have been braving the cold and stormy weather, and working towards their challenge of running, walking, jogging, cycling or swimming 40 miles each to raise money, and awareness of, White Ribbon UK.

Sarah Henshaw, or ‘Hennie’ as she was affectionately called by her friends, was tragically murdered by her ex-boyfriend in February 2019. One of the fundraisers, Sarah Barnes said,

“Hennie was the most kind, loving and caring friend. She always looked out for others, especially those less fortunate than her. We want to make sure this does not happen to others.

“As a team we have been actively supporting and encouraging each other and sharing our runs/walks. We have been overwhelmed with the support received and ask you to keep sharing Hennie’s story. The work of White Ribbon is so important – it’s time that Domestic Abuse stops!

“It is now over a year since Hennie was taken from us and none of this seems real. We all need to learn to just be kind to each other. Please help us help others, and put an end to male violence against women”.
