White Ribbon UK welcomes National Taskforce for Tackling Misogyny

White Ribbon UK welcomes the launch of the National Taskforce for Tackling Misogyny and the Government’s continued focus on preventing violence against women and girls.  

White Ribbon UK specialises in engaging men and boys to challenge harmful attitudes and behaviours and prevent violence against women and girls before it happens. 

We have been working with the Government on this agenda, sharing our experience and research on primary prevention, and are pleased to support the Taskforce as it develops.

“We welcome this announcement. The Government’s Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy recognised that prevention and tackling the root causes of violence must be central to creating lasting change. This Taskforce is an opportunity to turn ambition into action. 

“Violence against women and girls doesn’t come out of nowhere. It is rooted in gender inequality and shaped by attitudes and behaviours that can make sexism, harassment and misogyny seem normal or acceptable. 

“Tackling misogyny cannot be left to women and girls. Men and boys need to be part of the solution, and we need action across the places that shape our attitudes and behaviours, including our workplaces, communities and online spaces. 

“We look forward to continuing to work with Government on this agenda and supporting the Taskforce as it develops.” 

Workplaces are an important part of this work. Through White Ribbon Accreditation, we already work with organisations to challenge harmful attitudes and behaviours, strengthen workplace cultures and engage men as part of the solution. 

Ending violence against women and girls requires action from all corners of society.
