Meet Christian Blaise Harrison, a White Ribbon UK Ambassador and Health, Safety and Environmental Apprentice at First Bus, committed to speaking up and taking action to help end violence against women and girls. We spoke to Christian about his motivations for becoming an Ambassador and why this is an issue that’s personal to him.

What motivates you to be a White Ribbon Ambassador?

It’s the chance to make a real difference in tackling violence against women. I believe everyone deserves to feel safe and respected, and being part of this movement means standing up, speaking out, and helping change attitudes for the better.

Do you have a personal story or experience you’d like to share?

I’m 23 and grew up on a council estate in Bradford. Since I started working in safety, it has opened my eyes even more. I’ve seen firsthand how some men around me, especially when I was younger, treated women poorly; shouting, disrespecting, sometimes worse. It’s something that’s always stuck with me because it’s not just wrong, it’s unsettling. I remember having mates who thought it was normal to control or put down the women in their lives.

Being a White Ribbon Ambassador feels personal. It’s about standing up against that cycle, speaking out when it’s easier to look away. I want to help break that pattern, show that real strength is in respect and equality, not control or violence. For me, it’s about making sure no one has to live with fear or pain because of someone else’s actions. That’s what drives me every day.

What message would you give to other men, to encourage them to be allies to women and girls?

If we don’t act, who will?
