Looking to do something positive in 2026? Become a White Ribbon UK Ambassador

If you’re thinking about how to make a positive difference in 2026, becoming a White Ribbon UK Ambassador  is a great place to start.

White Ribbon Ambassadors help promote respect, equality and a culture free from violence against women and girls. It’s about having honest conversations, speaking up when something isn’t right, and encouraging other men to get involved by showing what being a good ally looks like in everyday life.

What does being an ally to women and girls look like?

Being an ally means acting in your everyday life to speak up against misogyny and sexism, we’ve provided some examples of this below.

  • Challenge sexism and misogyny when you see or hear it, if it’s safe to do so

  • Don’t laugh along with sexist jokes or comments

  • Normalise conversations about consent, boundaries and respect

  • Listen to women and girls and take their experiences seriously

  • Consider the media and content you are watching online and unfollow accounts that spread negativity or objectify women

  • Reflect on your own attitudes and behaviour and be open to learning.

What does being an Ambassador involve?

White Ribbon Ambassadors are men and people who identify as men, who choose to speak up for women and girls in their everyday lives. That might be at work, in your community, at a sports club, or simply in conversations with friends, family and colleagues.

Being an Ambassador isn’t about being perfect or having all the answers. It’s about:

  • Speaking up when you see or hear something that isn’t right

  • Inspiring change by starting crucial conversations

  • Encouraging respect and equality wherever you are

  • Challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours

  • Leading by example and promoting healthier, more positive ideas about masculinity and challenging outdated norms

  • Encouraging others to take action and encouraging other men to get involved

  • Committing to the White Ribbon Promise to never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women.

It’s something you build into your day-to-day life, not an extra job on top of everything else.

And you won’t be doing it alone. You’ll be joining a network of over 4,000 White Ribbon Ambassadors, and we want to keep that number growing.

When you become an Ambassador, you’ll get access to our exclusive Ambassador and Champions Hub, packed with practical resources such as presentations, learning materials, educational content and guidance to help you feel confident and supported on your journey. Plus, you’ll receive newsletters with White Ribbon updates, new campaigns and policy announcements and there’s no fee to join.

Whether you’re part of a White Ribbon Accredited or Supporter Organisation, or just someone who wants to make a difference in your own life and community, there’s a place for you.

Ambassadors in the spotlight

Our Ambassadors were at the heart of our 2025 White Ribbon Day campaign, We Speak Up.

We partnered with photographer Claudia Janke, known for her work on women’s rights and gender-based violence, to share portraits and stories of 16 White Ribbon Ambassadors from a wide range of backgrounds. Each Ambassador spoke about why they chose to take on the role and their commitment to speaking up for women and girls.

During the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (25 November to 10 December), we shared an Ambassador’s story each day, showing the many ways men can play a part.

Hear from our Ambassadors

"I want to be part of the group of men who don’t look away, don’t stay silent, and don’t assume someone else will step up. This is my commitment - to speak up, to stand alongside women, and to help build a safer community for everyone."  Mat Taylor, White Ribbon UK Ambassador

"I use my voice to challenge the culture of silence and support those who often feel like they’re standing alone. Whether that’s men who feel alone calling out unacceptable behaviour or women who feel alone with nobody on their side - I hope that the more men like me who stand up for what is right gives those people the confidence they need.” - Jospeh Smith, White Ribbon UK Ambassador

Ready to get involved?

We don’t expect you to know everything straight away. Being an Ambassador is a learning process. What matters is being open, willing to listen and prepared to take action.

If you’re looking to do something positive in 2026, we’d love you to join us as a White Ribbon Ambassador by signing up today.
